
The Police Entrance Exam includes a physical fitness component to ensure our officers have the strength, agility, and overall fitness needed for the job. Officers must be prepared for the physical demands of policing, which includes running toward danger and protecting others in crises. All applicants must complete a fitness assessment that reflects real-world policing situations. Below are the current standards for our fitness testing process.
- Must be between the ages of 21-47, individuals with qualified peace officer experience up to the age of 55 may apply
- Hold a High School Diploma
- Or hold a GED with 12 hours of completed college credits
- Complete application and provide all required documents by deadline
- Pass physical fitness test
- Perform the two-minute Abdominal Crunch Assessment, then recover for at least 5 minutes
- Perform the Push-Up Assessment, then recover for at least 5 minutes
- Perform the 1.5 mile Run Assessment, then perform active cool down for at least 5 minutes
- Non-TCOLE Certified applicants must pass Civil Service Exam
- Complete Personal History Statement
- Pass background investigation
- Pass oral interview board
- Pass polygraph exam
- Pass psychological exam
- Pass medical exam
